Mission Hills - Pete Dye Course

The opening par 4 plays fairly straight off the tee. The green is guarded by deep, grass-faced bunkers left and right.

The shortest hole on the course plays uphill to a green ringed by sand. Dye's trademark railroad ties will menace tee shots that fly too far.

Play conservatively off the tee. The front of the contoured putting surface is guarded by an extremely deep bunker.

With an elevation drop of more than 20 metres from the tee to the fairway, this par 5 is reachable in two. The second shot must be well-struck, however, as a stone wall and water protect the angled green. Lay up left for the best angle on your third.

This turtle-backed green will repel shots that hit its edges.

With a view of mountains in the distance, the green is fronted by two extremely deep bunkers.

Playing uphill, the short-iron second must be spinning and crisp, as the slender green provides little margin for error.

Beware the many bunkers that dot this fairway. This short par 4 will test even the most savvy of players.

A visually dramatic par-three with a long tee-to-green bunker and a green protected front-left by an exceptionally daunting bunker hiding half the putting surface. Saving par from the chipping areas around the green will require deft touch.

Take careful aim at the small, sloping target and don't be distracted by the awesome views. Avoid the bunker left at all costs.

Your best iron approach will be needed to hold the right-to-left canted green. Crater-like bunkers front the shallow green surrounded by three chipping areas.

Avoid the bunkers left off the tee of this right-to-left dogleg. The partially-hidden green is nestled among a series of mounds and bunkers.

Arguably the most challenging hole on the course, it features a "Himalayas" bunker inspired by England?s Royal St. George?s Golf Club. Take a shot at it in two, but heed the out-of-bounds left.

The green complex at this short par 4 is reminiscent of a cratered moon scape. Despite its length, par is a good score.

Players can take dead aim with the driver. The tennis-racquet-shaped green is nicknamed "flyswatter" and is likely the most wildly contoured of any at Mission Hills.

A strong par 3. A miss short and left will be the least damaging to your scorecard, although the undulating chipping area is no bargain.

A supreme test of a golfer?s ability. Only the lowest handicappers will reach this uphill green in two. A par four-and-a-half, if there ever was one.

A rarity: a true three-shot par 5. Position your first two shots to attack the hole?s sloping, three-tiered green. A cavernous bunker reminiscent of Dye?s 16th at PGA West?s Stadium Course guards the putting surface?s left side. Not to be outdone, its right is menaced by three railroad tie-ringed hazards while a front pot bunker awaits pitches that are short.
