Par 5, Length 450m
A great opening hole, framed by pines left and right. Aim for the right side of the fairway to avoid the fairway trap. A good drive will tempt the long hitters to go for the green in two, but a fast, undulating green protected by sand traps makes it a real risk-and-reward proposition.

Par 4, Length 350m
A sharp dog-leg left with a sand trap in the elbow, the drive is all about position. Slicers beware the trees lining the right-side of the fairway. You'll need a long second to get to the green ? which like the first, features an unholy blend of slopes, hollows and speed

Par 3, Length 123m
One of the signature holes, perhaps the course's most picturesque, and arguably its most dangerous. It's all carry over water and bunkers. Too daunting? There's a bailout area to the right, where a deft chip to a green with subtle breaks may yield a par.

Par 4, Length 340m
A gentle dog-leg right, lined by forests either side, with a fairway bunker nestled just within reach of your power fade. You need to keep the drive left! But the real test is getting the ball to stop on the super-slick green. Good luck with the two-putt

Par 4, Length 316m
A shortish par four, but it demands a precisely-positioned drive (left side of the fairway, please) to give you a clear second between towering trees. There are no greenside bunkers, but watch the downhill putts. Ever putted down a Porsche windscreen...?

Par 4, Length 306m
Another shortish hole, a sharp dog-leg right, but it also demands a carefully-positioned tee-shot to avoid the forest in the elbow. A good drive will leave you a high iron into the green, but watch the two greenside bunkers (right) and aim to leave the ball below the hole

Par 4, Length 398m
Into the prevailing wind, not for nothing is this the number 1 stroke hole. The fairway feeds the drive right, and you may end up on a downhill lie. You could lay-up, but that leaves a long second ? and then a very slick green awaits you

Par 3, Length 136m
Be wary. Downhill and usually down wind, so club choice requires some careful analysis. But it?s all carry over a gully, and anything that misses the green will test the delicacy of your lob wedge

Par 4, Length 339m
A slicer's nightmare. The sharp 90 degree dog-leg left features a thick forest in the elbow, and the right side of the fairway drops away to oblivion. Big hitters like to hit it over the trees, but it?s a risky shot. An elevated green lies in wait - and woe betide those who miss right
10
Par 4, Length 352m
Pretty, but not much reprieve for slicers. Arguably Remuera?s tightest driving hole, the narrow fairway's framed by high mature pines and out-of-bounds left, with a steep drop-off all along the right. An elevated green so try to keep your approach below the hole
11
Par 3, Length 164m
Fairly straight-forward, but longer than it looks. Beware the ball-gobbling tree on the left of the green, and take the time to read the green - the breaks are subtle
12
Par 4, Length 334m
Strategy, strategy, strategy. A lay-up 3-wood is the safe shot, leaving a mid-iron into the green. A driver forces you to flirt with a bunker left and a forest on the right. Risk and reward with very little of the latter. Again, try to leave your approach below the hole
13
Par 5, Length 505m
The longest hole on the course, so only large primates can even think about hitting the green in two. Straight and easy does the job. The danger is around the elevated green with two bunkers (left and right) and water on the right
14
Par 4, Length 336m
You can't see the green from the tee-box, but an accurate, centre-fairway drive will set you up nicely leaving you a mid-to-high iron to a downhill green. Be wary as the green slopes left-to-right, and away from you. Good luck with stopping the ball
15
Par 4, Length 320m
Another hole that requires a bit of strategic thinking. Its narrow fairway divides two large lakes, both well within range of an errant drive. A lay-up is a more sensible option, even though it means a longer iron into the green
16
Par 5, Length 490m
A very attractive, sharp dog-leg right, with plenty of trees framing the fairway. You need to keep your drive well left for a clear second down into the gully. The third plays to an elevated green and can be tough as you often can't see the bottom of the pin (or even the flag)
17
Par 3, Length 174m
Another of the course's signature holes, it presents beautifully. But it's all carry, and even if you do hit the green you'll need your sharpest putting skills to secure the par. Plenty of curves and slopes to negotiate
18
Par 5, Length 448m
A great finishing hole and a chance to regain some equilibrium after the diabolical 17th. The fairway zig-zags and drops between bunkers and trees. The main danger is around the green with three large bunkers and swales. Empty your mind and focus on your third
