Green Acres Golf Club

The banks of the Yarra River, which winds its way around Green Acres, provides a picturesque backdrop to this challenging members layout.

The tall stands of native trees, the natural billabongs and abundant birdlife make it a little difficult to believe it is only 15 minutes from the CBD.

Green Acres Golf Club was formed in July 1948 on 44 hectares of the former Willsmere Dairy Farm land on the banks of the Yarra at East Kew. Purchased from the Brooksby Family for $34,158.

The course has changed little from the original layout. The 5848 metres par 71 course of 1955 is now 143 metres longer but the tightness of the course, more than compensates for the relatively short length.

Playing Tips

1	Par 4, Length 319m A good tee shot sets up the hole, a wayward tee shot sets up at least a bogey. From the top of the hill it is only 150 metres to the green.
2	Par 4, Length 364m Tee shot left of centre will ensure you can see the green for your second shot to this large green. Don't hit your second too far.
3	Par 5, Length 450m The landing area is not as narrow as it first appears and if you try to get home for two there is trouble left.
4	Par 3, Length 185m The large green has subtle undulations, out of bounds all the way on the left.
5	Par 4, Length 350m A tee shot to the plateau will ensure a medium iron to the elevated green which slopes from back to front. An uphill putt is preferred on this green.
6	Par 4, Length 420m A tough par 4. A tee shot to the centre or left of the fairway will keep you away from the water hazard down the right side.
7	Par 4, Length 306m If you fancy the tee shot across the water, make for the break in the tree line on the left. Putting can be a challenge.
8	Par 5, Length 452m A double dog leg which requires some thought, make sure you can see the elevated green for your third shot.
9	Par 3, Length 112m A shot hole, being long has its advantages over being too short.
10	Par 4, Length 350m A tee shot to the centre or right of the fairway will open up the hole for the second shot to the elevated green which has two levels.
11	Par 3, Length 153m The large green has two levels, make sure you land on the right one.
12	Par 4, Length 332m Access to the green for the second shot can be hindered by the willow tree on the corner.
13	Par 4, Length 378m The perched green has a sleepy hollow in front, and an uphill putt has its advantages. Out of bounds back and right of the green does play on the mind.
14	Par 5, Length 480m The fairway is lined by trees on the left and the Yarra River (OOB) to the right, straight hitting and patience will be rewarded.
15	Par 4, Length 407m A straight narrow tree lined hole. Par is a very good result.
16	Par 4, Length 349m Dog leg right, don't be too far right off the tee otherwise you may be blocked out for the approach to the green which also has a sleepy hollow in the front.
17	Par 3, Length 180m Miss this green and you can have an awkward pitch/chip.
18	Par 4, Length 320m Tight driving hole. A good second shot can position the ball in the right quarter of this large elevated green.
